RESULTS FROM THE 151ST ANNUAL DIOCESAN CONVENTION
Lay and clergy delegates met for the 151st time in annual convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas on Oct. 22-23 in Topeka.
With the theme "Where the good way lies: Standing at the crossroads," Bishop Dean Wolfe announced that the "Crossroads" capital campaign so far has raised $2.2 million of the $6 million needed to create space for the Kansas School for Ministry and to endow the school's work.
The convention also heard from keynote speaker Bishop Michael Curry of North Carolina, who also preached the sermon at the opening Eucharist.
The proposed mission plan of $1,862,745 was adopted without discussion, and delegates passed an amendment to diocesan canons to implement new national canons on clergy discipline, as well as a resolution calling on parishes to be environmentally aware.
The following people were elected to diocesan offices:
Council of Trustees, lay at-large: Dick Coulter
Council of Trustees, clergy at-large: the Very Rev. Jerry Adinolfi
Ecclesiastical Court, unexpired term: the Rev. Marcus Cunningham
Convention also voted to affirm Council of Trustees members selected by the four regional convocations of the diocese: Dr. Linda Brown, Northeast; Joe Mitchell, Northwest; Gary Chubb, Southeast; and Felix Adams, Southwest.
Lay and clergy deputies all were elected on the first ballot and include three clergy and one lay newcomers. Lay deputy Natalie Vanatta and alternate Steven King both are 25 or younger.
Those elected, in order of their vote totals, are:
Lay deputes: Larry Bingham, Mike Morrow (deputation chair), Bob Skaggs and Natalie Vanatta
Clergy deputies: the Rev. Canon Craig Loya, the Rev. Juli Sifers, Deacon Steve Segebrecht and the Rev. Betty Glover.
Lay alternates: Steven King, Teresa Rogers, Harriet Duff and Joe Mitchell.
Clergy alternates: the Rev. Matt Zimmerman, the Rev. Gail Greenwell, the Rev. Mary Siegmund and the the Rev. Matt Cobb.

ANGLICAN COVENANT STUDY GUIDE OFFERED
The Rev. Andrew Grosso, canon theologian for the Episcopal Diocese of Kansas, has compiled a study guide on the proposed Anglican Covenant. The study guide is in four parts, making it suitable for use on four consecutive Sundays during adult study classes. Each week is produced as a two-page PDF,

Bishop Wolfe has asked all parishes to engage in a study of the Covenant, which likely will come before the 2012 General Convention for deliberation.
Parishes and individuals who complete the study guide and who wish their comments about the proposed Covenant to be part of the pre-General Convention discussion may send them before April 24, 2011 by e-mail.
