Neuroscience deals with diseases and injuries affecting the brain, spinal column and spinal cord; as well as the nerves that travel through all parts of the body. Neuroscience integrates more traditional scientific approaches such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry, along with newer fields such as molecular biology and computer science, to understand how the nervous system functions.
Neurological conditions may result from trauma, which is often associated with some type of accident. They may also originate genetically, developing over longer periods of time. In many cases, neurological conditions coincide with and are related to other medical conditions.
