"With thanksgiving for the blessings of the Triune God -
Father, Son,and Holy Spirit, the people of Zion Lutheran Church:
Provide spiritual nourishment through Word and Sacraments
to worship and glorify our Lord;
Spread the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ;
Share time, talents, and treasures in service to our Lord;
Encourage fellowship to nurture Christian lifestyle;
So that all may know salvation which is theirs through grace."
An exciting highlight in the history of the Reformation was Martin Luther's bold testimony before high-level authorities at the Diet (Assembly) of Worms in 1521. They asked Luther to take back everything he had written against the church and what he said were false teachings. His inspired and courageous reply:
Unless you can prove from the Bible that I have made wrong statements and have spoken contrary to God's Word, I refuse to recant (take back). My conscience is bound in the Word of God. Here I stand! I cannot do otherwise! God help me. Amen.
We thank God for His servant Martin Luther, who taught his world and continues to teach our world today the Biblical truths that:
Our beliefs and teachings come from the Bible alone. We are saved by God's grace (His undeserved love) alone. We are saved through faith (not by works) alone.
